P400 metering pumps
6 to 243 GPH
P400 Hydra Cell metering pumps output flow rates up to 243 GPH at pressures up to 1000 PSI in conformance with API 675 metering pump performance standards related to linearity, steady-state accuracy and repeatability. The sealless design of the P400 Hydra Cell metering pump delivers a smooth, almost pulseless flow rate, thereby eliminating pulsation dampeners from most systems.
The P400 Hydra Cell metering pump pictured above is a standard model D10 Hydra-Cell pump attached to a right angle gearbox in support of generating lower flow rates with minimal motor horsepower. The gearbox mechanically reduces the shaft speed, reducing the constant shaft torque requires and therefore both the motor and variable frequency drive (VFD) sizes are minimized.
The sealless design of the P400 Hydra Cell metering pump enables it to handle a broad range of fluids, whether non lubricating, containing particulate, high viscosity or extreme temperatures are involved, the lack of mechanical seals, cups and packing used in conventional metering pumps results in unmatched reliability for our customers. The picture below illustrates a P400 used by a flavors and fragrances manufacturer for a high pressure spray drying application and as such they required a smooth, pulseless flow.
Most metering pumps within this flow range have adjustable stroke control which significantly complicates their design and likewise increases the cost. Instead of controlling stroke length, we control the frequency of stroke by pump shaft speed. Most VFD's have some programmability and can be interfaced with a customer supplied PLC. We offer a custom preprogrammed "Control Freak" touch screen PLC to provide precise control to as many as six pumps simultaneously.
The only pump components in contact with the pumped fluid are the elastomers and check valve assemblies; not having a dynamic seal eliminates the chance for fugitive emissions. The elastomers do not have a defined wear life; testing ceased after 20,000 hours of continuous operation without any discernable "wear" but the check valves will eventually wear out and require replacement. Wear life for check valves typically ranges from 9-12 months of continuous operation (6570 to 8760 hours). Some customers elect to change the elastomers at the same time because it's not difficult nor expensive to so, but it not necessary. Check valves are easily replaced without the need for special tools and often the procedure is completed within 90 minutes without needing to remove the pump from the process line. We offer check valves in a variety of materials for chemical and abrasion resistance.
We can provide the complete pump/motor/VFD/PLC assembly, however we'll require additional information from you to properly size and select the motor and optional controllers. The best thing to do is to review our P400 Hydra Cell Metering pump catalog pages and then use our email inquiry form to provide us with the design criteria. We typically reply with a proposal the same day. Please feel free to call our sales engineers to discuss your application immediately.
